The minute
- ASP7 targets $500 million, more than double the $240 million raised by its predecessor (ASP6, closed in 2025); the original strategy launched in 2018
- The fund acquires “construction-ready” solar and storage projects from development partners, finances the build-out, and then manages the asset through operations
- Prior funds (ASP1 through ASP6) acquired 56 projects across 10 U.S. states, generating over 218 GWh of clean energy; ASP7 already has more than 500 MW of projects identified in its pipeline
Why it matters
CEO Peter Davidson described distributed solar and storage as “one of the fastest ways to add reliable capacity to the grid” in the middle market segment — the segment too small for large infrastructure funds and too big for traditional single-project financing, a niche that often lacks a clear source of capital.
ASP7’s first close came in September 2026, and the doubled fund size compared to its predecessor suggests demand for this kind of asset (smaller, faster to build, more geographically distributed) is growing faster than the supply of capital specialized in this specific niche. via ESG Today
